Long Story Short demos #3 & #4 - “Live Like This” & “We Should Get Married”

As we release our 15 home demos each week, leading up to Pittsburgh opening night on October 29, there will be several 2-song Wednesdays; today is the first.

Something helpful to know about this show, and about the play it’s based on (”An Infinite Ache” by David Schulner): there are sudden, frequent jumps forward in time throughout the story. This week, we jump from CHARLES and HOPE’s very first date to weeks and months later in their relationship. And then we keep jumping, and jumping again. It’s a jumping festival.

See you next Wednesday, September 10, for demos #5 & #6: “Fragile As Love” & “Unpacking The Suitcase.”

Wow!… two more fantastic songs! These two are probably the most voyeuristically stimulating of all the previous GrooveLily songs… although I do love ‘Coming Home’. One of the great things about GrooveLily songs is that you don’t take a 5 or 6 word phrase, and just repeat it over and over, like some of the so-called popular songs. If I hear a song on the radio that is doing that, I change the station… remember, I’m that one guy that still doesn’t own an I-Pod. I think the closest you come to that is at the end of ‘That’s why I’m sitting on the fence’.

These songs for ‘Long Story Short’ are particularly non-repetitive, and a real treat to listen to. I’m really looking forward to hearing the whole play… but, where are all those people from the first demo? You know… the ones that can actually speak intelligently about your songs and song writing? Don’t make me the only person writing comments!
