Nice, Gene. I first met Rachel in the late 80s, probably. And last saw her at NERFA in 2003. Those kinds of situations really overwhelm me, and she GOT that. She totally took us under her wing and guided us around. I will never forget that.

You guys were awesome last night at Birdland. I am a huge fan of "Striking Twelve"...and now "Sleeping Beauty Wakes" too! You are all so talented and gifted. My partner, Sean Hartley, is working with your manager to have you do Striking Twelve at Merkin Concert Hall, and also have you present and talk about sleeping Beauty Wakes next season as prat of his Broadway Bound series. I hope to meet you then.

Gene,

I loved reading your post and miss Rachel whenever there's a gathering she would usually be at like Folk Alliance or Kerrville. It was healing to work on this project.

Hey, Gene ~

It's Susan Moss in South Florida - I'm on your mailing list, way back from that wonderful time you played in my living room... and still enjoy reading about how all of you are doing (would love to get GrooveLily back to Florida one of these days... :-)

Imagine my delight to read your blog post about Rachel Bissex - remember when you co-billed at Main Street Cafe?

She was a true force of light and love, and I miss her so much... musically and personally - thanks for your contribution of Starting Over to the Remembering Rachel CD (and sadly, Vic Heyman, producer/organizer of the tribute, just passed away January 6)...

Hey Gene,

Wanted to say thanks for the years of musical pleasure you and Val and Brendan have given me. I was lucky enough to catch the Zipper/Striking 12 concert twice, and, man, you paint with your drums, as ever! It's such masterful, musical dynamism. Can't thank y'all enough. Here's to many more musical years for all of us!

Best,

Scott
