Goodbye Virginia just played on the Listener Review Channel at Radio Paradise. www.radioparadise.com

As I am at my school, inventorying and organizing art materials, I can't send an email to the group. The current vote count is 8 up and 3 down

Apocalyptic Love Song played about 45 minutes ago. I discovered it just as it was about to disappear off the bottom of the LRC playlist. The vote was 9 up to 2 down.

Little Nemesis just played on the LRC. It is being well received by the RP members--the vote is 16 up and 3 down. But the vote can never be TOO good--so if you somehow missed voting for this one........

Hi Folks,

It looks like another batch of new songs have entered the Listener Review Channel on Radio Paradise. This includes at least two new GrooveLily songs
  • Home Fires Burning from BTEC, Back Issue Series
  • Phantom Lover from Just the Three of Us

The scores on both songs are 1 UP and 0 DOWN, courtesy of yours truly. BTW, the songs played back-to-back!

According to our database of uploaded songs, The Odometer Song was also scheduled to go on the LRC, so chances are good that this song may also be in LRC rotation (Marcia, would you confirm the status of this song?).

By the way, The Odometer song played back to back with "Track 16" I think, I hope, Radio Paradise is starting a healthy trend :-)

It certainly is a GrooveLily morning on the Radio Paradise LRC, Goodbye Virginia is now playing. I believe that is 5 GrooveLily songs in the span of 3 or so hours.

The "Goodbye Virginia" (studio version) score is 9 UP and 3 DOWN.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great sadness that I must inform you that Goodbye, Virginia has gotten the big "sorry" from Bill, that guy that I was missing up until just now.
The big jerk. But I'm not angry.

And I was traveling to Hays, KS and back on Wednesday and Thursday and missed the whole thing. RATS!

No, really, I'm glad the songs have moved into "reviewing" status. Just wish I could have been there to hear it.

I wish I could be there too, Rob. I really enjoyed seeing the kids play there in '02. It's a nice venue in a beautiful place.

Yeah, I am still bummed about Goodbye, Virginia getting "the Hook";-) Of all the crap I see on there and he kills my great song! I will give him the benefit of the doubt in that there has been so many GrooveLily uploads that he had to make the cut somewhere. I feel like Diana losing to that no talent Fantasia. What a rip!

Anyway, my love to the family.
And our best to the Petal Pusher family and all the GrooveLily fans on thie holiday weekend. God bless this country, our troops, and our president.

Restless and Reckless is playing on the LRC even as I type. This is NOT one of my uploads! So who is going to take credit? We can't vote for anything right now because although the music is playing, the website is down. Following Restless and Reckless is You Take Control (AKA Track 14). I don't know what's going on, but the past four or so songs in a row (with the exception of R&R) have been my uploads. Before the GL song was several Paste Sampler uploads.

Tell Me What's On Your Mind, identified as Track 15 from "Unknown Album", also not one of my uploads, because, thanks to Brendan telling me about iTunes, I figured out the labeling problem.

It's a GrooveLily songfest on Radio Paradise! Now Gotham City Breakdown is playing! It's also identified as "Unknown Album"--Track 16, which is my upload before Brendan's help.

And as it disappears off the bottom of the screen and the voting opportunity, Apocalyptic Love Song is now 12 up and 2 down. Picked up one more "up". Considering that NOBODY even knows the site is back, that is nothing short of amazing.

Just heard Phantom Lover and Home Fires Burning back to back on the LRC at Radio Paradise. They're about halfway down the list--maybe another 10-15 minutes to vote. and both have 2 up and 1 down. There's some guy there tonight that is giving every song a down vote no matter what.

The Odometer Song was just back-to-back with Gotham City Breakdown. The current vote is Odometer--3 up and 2 down and Gotham 4 up and 4 down. There are some rather negative voters on the LRC tonight--lots of down votes for everything (unless it's HARD rock).

Home Fires Burning just played on the LRC. I love this one--the contrast of voices, the melody, the use of "voice" as "instrument." And the more I hear it, the more I like it. The current score is 3 up and 1 down.

Hi Folks,

The Radio Paradise Listener Review Channel upload feature is once again operational!

I just uploaded Big City Love Song from the Little Light - Back Issue.

The upload feature resides under the "Registration & Settings" option found on the vertical navigation bar of the main page.

Hi Folks,

GrooveLily's Big City Love Song has now officially been added to the Radio Paradise Listener Review Channel. If you are by your computer, tune in and listen for it (and then vote!).

FYI, it took about 3 days from the time the song was uploaded to when it was added to the LRC.

Hi Marcia,

quote:

Yes I am aware of this. The Radio Paradise website seemed to become unreachable just as I was uploading the MP3 of this song. While the MP3 uploaded properly, none of the Artist/Song information that I entered was saved. I immediately updated the blank information (song was still in the "New" status). While this information was correctly saved by the system, it apparently was never transferred to the LRC when the song enter the "Reviewing" status.

I have sent two e-mails to the man in charge ("Bill") over the course of the last week, but no response.

Radio Paradise obviously has some bugs in their software. This is evident by the problem I encountered, plus all the other songs you see trickling by the LRC that are missing Aritist/Song information.

Sorry, Rob. If it sounded like I was being critical, I didn't mean to be. Nobody has been more frustrated than I with the bugs in the RP website. Remember "track 14" and "track 16"? I had supposedly followed the steps to fix the info, but you saw how well that worked! In a way, your difficulty at least makes me feel like less of an idiot. :-)

You're right--there are a crop of unidentified songs on the LRC right now--I just saw another one go by.

I was SO excited to hear a GL song that WASN'T one of my uploads. And I think GL is going to see greater success on RP when it isn't just "Crazy Marcia from Wichita" uploading GL songs. So thank you so much for contributing to that effort.

OK, Debbie Does Dallas--the Musical wasn't exactly X-rated. But it wasn't exactly good either. Nowhere near the quality of a "Striking 12" for example, or a "Wheelhouse".

Well, I went to RP a few minutes ago. I hardly ever go there anymore. I was surprised that one of my Syd Straw songs was playing but I didn't get that excited. Unfortunately, after the "Goodbye Virginia" incident, I just don't have any love for that site.
I'll still check in occasionally but it has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Hey Flo--good to hear from you!

I agree--it has been harder to get songs onto the main channel than I thought it would be. Do you know they've had over 14,000 uploads? Thaw is #14176. If you look at most people's upload list on their profile page they have at least as many "sorry's" as "added's". And I guess that sometimes a song is uploaded by one person, rejected and then uploaded by another person and accepted. So, I figure in six months we see if somebody else will Try Again. Seems like some very wise musician/poets gave me that advice :-) .

So, I'm hanging in there. Plus I keep ever widening my circle of bands--The Quality Music Revolution lives and breathes.

Oh darn I missed it. I had to go to a teacher training about the new computers we are getting. You haven't run into Thaw yet have you?

Phantom Lover just played on the LRC. The current vote is 5 up to 3 down. I love this live performance version of the song--certainly captures the smoke and fire that Ed heard in Yuma!

PT picked up 1 up and 1 down to leave at 6 up to 4 down. I was on my way out the door when the song came on, so now I really DO have to leave.

Very Frustrating! I just tried to vote for Phantom Lover, and my vote did not register. I even logged out, then back in again... still it did not count my thumbs up vote. So it seems to be leaving with 6up, 4down.

If you clicked on the thumbs up symbol it will show up the next time PT plays--which will make it 7 up to 4 down--Thanks Ed!

Just for comparison purposes, here is the current voting for a song by Cyndi Lauper on the LRC:

Cyndi Lauper - True Colors (9) (6)

9 up and 6 down--pretty close.

And as Lightning and the Tree disappears off the screen it has changed to 3 up and 4 down. I suspect the score will rise as this song gets more airplay and people listen more closely to the powerful lyrics.

Phantom Lover is on the LRC now. It was at 6up, 4down. If they count my vote this time, it should at least get another thumbs up.

Missed it--it is a gorgeous day here in Wichita--75 degrees, sunny, no humidity. My youngest son and I have been dealing with a downed branch and clearing out deadwood.

I just noticed that The Odometer Song has exactly the same vote count as this song by Coldplay:

Groovelily - The Odometer Song (8) (3)
Coldplay - Sparks (8) (3)

Raindance played about 15 minutes ago. Actually, I didn't get to hear it. I came down to the computer about five minutes after it played. It is at 4 up to 1 down.

Ditto with Thaw. I came to the computer to discover it had played about 20 minutes ago. It came in at 1 up to 1 down and is leaving at 2 up to 1 down.

Hey Marcia! It seems like they did it to me again. That is, they claimed that they registered my vote... yet when the song changed, it was not added to the score.

I caught it in the middle of the list, voted thumbs up, and refreshed several times before it slipped off the bottom. It was still the same 10 up to 7 down that it started at.

Do I need to register under a different login from my work computer for this thing to count? It tells me I am logged in, and tells me that it has registered my vote... but it seems to lie!

WAAAASSSUUPPPP ? ? ?

Ed,

I believe the count is updated not when the song changes but when the song you voted on plays the next time. In other words, you won't see your vote for Home Fires until the next time it plays.

David,

I'll believe it when I see it! I voted for Phantom Lover on 2 separate occasions, and it still was 6up, 4down when it came back.

I'm sorry that Radio Paradise is giving you trouble, Ed. It is a great site, but there are some "rules" you have to follow. OK--let's start with one question. Are you aware that only your last vote--up or down--counts for each song? That is, you can change your mind on a song, but can't vote two "up" votes for the same song, for example.

Marcia,

I just tried an experiment, and voted for a random song... by Gomez. It was 2up, 2down. I voted thumbs up, and when the next song started, and I refreshed the screen, the vote was 3up, 2down... so the system seems to work... at least from my home computer/ e-mail address.

I'll experiment with a random song at work tomorrow, just to see if my voting seems to count there. Maybe LRC doesn't like me voting for GrooveLily songs.

I admit that I have voted twice, if it appeared that my vote did not register... but it should still have counted one of my votes. I'll keep trying. I know that a couple of times I saw my vote register... I'm just not sure if it was always at home when this occured.

The violin strains of Phantom Lover are wafting through the LRC airwaves. Love that live version--the applause at the end clearly reveals the audience's enthusiastic reaction. The vote is 6 up to 4 down.

Marcia... I was away from my computer for awhile, and missed Phantom Lover. However, if you look back at previous postings, you will see that the 6 up to 4 down score has not changed since at least last Friday. I voted thumbs up for it on Friday, and again on Sunday... plus I would imagine that you just voted for it again. Don't you think it's a bit strange that we all keep voting for it, yet the rating remains unchanged?

Actually you can vote as many times as you want for a song on the Listener Review Channel. You aren't penalized for voting more than once, it's just that only your last vote counts. Radio Paradise takes a little getting used to, but there are some real rewards. I am discovering so many new bands. The Quality Music Revolution lives and breathes!

Raindance played a little bit ago on the LRC. It came in at 4 votes up to 1 down and looks like it is about to leave at 5 up to 1 down.

After being very frustrated with Radio Paradise, I didn't upload any GrooveLily (or anybody else for that matter) for about two months. But I decided to give it another shot. Open Letter to Madonna has only played a couple times and has a score of 6 thumbs up to 0 thumbs down. This is Going to Stop must have played today and has a score of 3 up to 1 down. So both songs are doing well.
