News 12 NJ Appearance - Friday 1/11/2002

In case you haven't noticed the new entry on the Gigs page, Val and Brendan will be appearing on Jersey's Talking with Lee Leonard this Friday (1/11/2002). Gene, unfortunately, will be in the recording studio mixing the new Fundementia release :(.

Val and Brendan will be (among other things) promoting the Clifton, NJ show occurring the following night (Saturday 1/12/2002 - If you're in the area, please try to check-out this show [even though it conflicts with the Jets playoff game and the US Figure Skating Finals! - it will be worth the sacrifice (e.g., special surprises that the band doesn't even know about!)]). Brendan, being the big sports fan that you are, I'm sure you will be providing the latest scores for both of these events between each song. :)

News 12 NJ is available on cable channel #12 on Cablevision systems in NJ and cable channel #42 on Comcast systems in NJ. The program may also be available on other News 12 channels within the Cablevision empire in the NY/NJ/CT metro area (check your local listings).

According to the program's website it reaches over 1.8 million households in the state of NJ and over 3 million households in the NY/NJ/CT metro area.

Note: This appearance is the direct result of Petal Pusher activities (actually, a single phone call and some good fortune). Give the program a try. You too can help make a difference.

Hey Rob.

Could you PLEASE tape the show for me? Then you can bring it with you when you and Terry come down for the 3/2/2 gig in Columbia. I'll give you a dollar for gas.

Folks,

Great performance! We had two VCRs rolling. Now if only I had that digital video editing PC I'd be able to create some streaming content. Well, maybe later in the year (right Terry).

For those that missed it or are out of the area, Val and Brendan played Shannon and Looking Forward/Looking Back. There was a short interview after the first song (then a commercial), followed by Looking Forward/Looking Back.

Brendan: I couldn't tell from the TV shots, but were you wearing shoes? :)

The first three or four minutes of the show included the host telling some (unnecessary?) jokes. So Val/Brendan, was he killing time for you guys to finish setting up, or was this really a scheduled part of the show? I was getting a little uncomfortable during the opening joke segment as our daughter sent in a note to her 5th grade class to have everyone watch her really cool and talented friends Val and Brendan on TV. Well some of the jokes involved, shall we say, off color humor. Anyway, it passed fairly quickly, as did the GrooveLily segment - but the good news is there is the Clifton show tomorrow night!

Hey, do you think the next time you're on the show they can spell the band's name correctly? ("GrooveLily" vs "Groovelily") Well the show did a nice job plugging the Clifton performance, and they even mentioned it again at the end of the hour long broadcast.

BTW, according to the show's website " There are repeat broadcasts the following day at 1-2 PM and on the weekend"

p.s.: It looks like the free spell checker associated with your fine Discussion Board is no longer working. I'm in trouble!

When you run the spell checker you get "Due to the current advertising climate, SpellChecker.net no longer offers a banner supported service. Webmasters: click here to sign up for the paid version of the SpellChecker.net system."

So did anybody else notice that they left out the middle verse of "Looking Forward, Looking Back" ? I thought that was the case last night, and I just went back and watched the video tape, and I was right.

Dave,

We have arranged for your copy of the News 12 NJ, "Jersey's Talking" appearance to find its way to South Carolina. Val and and Brendan have graciously agreed to provide a no charge courier service (at least they didn't mention charging me anything) to Columbia, SC's March 2nd show. Terry and I determined that the $1 you offered for gas for us to travel to Columbia would only get us as far as Morristown, NJ. :)

We are planning a little vacation in Virginia towards the end of June. It would be great if there was a GrooveLily show somewhere in Virginia (perferably somewhere near Bush Gardens!) at that time so we could "meet half way". Hey Virginia GrooveLily fans, how about it?

..... Clifton review to follow (great show! --that wasn't the review)

Man, oh man, the graciousness of the GrooveLillians continues to astound me.
I can't wait to see it. Thanks so much to the Bond's; I talked with my accountant and she said that if I held off on some victuals, I could probably offer y'all as much as $7.60 for gas. That oughta get the Escalade as far as Philly, eh?

Who Carries the Oxygen Network?

As many of you know, GrooveLily will be appearing on the Oxygen Network's Pure (Oxygen) show sometime toward the end of April (air date to be determined). The Oxygen Network is carried by cable and satellite TV providers.

I understand that the Oxygen Network is carried by:
  • Time Warner cable systems
  • RCN (not on all systems)
  • DirectTV (satellite) channel 251

This is by no means a complete list. Please post any other info you might have on cable network coverage of the Oxygen Network.

If the network is not on your service provider's network, then perhaps it's on a friend's or relative's system, and you can get them to tape the GrooveLily appearance for you.

Sandy,

Good point. You can go to http://www.oxygen.com/giveme/ and enter a zip code at the bottom of the page and Oxygen will tell you if their network is available at that location.

Thanks!

Folks,

In case you missed the mention of this in another area of this board, the GrooveLily appearance on the Oxygen Network's Pure Oxygen program is scheduled to air Monday May 6, 2002

According to the Oxygen Network's website the Pure Oxygen program airs at the following times (Eastern Daylight Saving Time):

• 9am (8 Central)
• Noon (11 Central) -- LIVE show!
• 5:30pm (4:30 Central)
• 11pm (10 Central).

I'm not sure what is meant by the "LIVE show!", as the GrooveLily performance is taped. I'm guessing that perhaps this means that the 9AM show is actually a re-run of the show from the prior day. Perhaps the band can clear this up?

Folks,

I'm not sure if you noticed that the Main page on this site changed on May 3, 2002. Information on the upcoming Live CD was added, plus this:

May 6, 2002: GrooveLily appears on the Oxygen Network. The band plays its appropriately titled new song "Breathe in, Breathe Out" on the network's show "Pure Oxygen".
