Hey all you GrooveLily lovers, did you see the announcement on the Main page about the GrooveLily fan cruise to the Bahamas? Check it out:

http://www.groovelily.com/cruise.html

What a cool idea. I hope they can pull it off. If you are interested in more information then be sure to sign-up on the interest list (no obligation).

Well, I've been wanting to go on a cruise for a long time. This would certainly be a great reason to take the wife on a 2nd (or is it 10th?) honeymoon. Man, I can't wait. Rob, I understand your enthusiasm; I have it too but my wife is used to me acting like a moron (not that you are). I reckon I need to get on the recruiting trail, eh?

Peace
Dave

Uh, Brendan, could I uh, borrow enuff to cover the cruise? I'll buy you a drink. Thanks pal.

Folks,

I see that Belair Travel has finally put the information regarding the GrooveLily Cruise to the on their website. It's a 3-Night Concert Cruise to Nassau, Bahamas.

See Belair Travel Cruises for more information.

Published Itinerary

DayPortArriveDepart
Fri Nov 15thMiami Florida - Party w/GrooveLily4:00pm
Sat Nov 16thNassau Bahamas-GrooveLily Concert8:00am Sat 8:00am Sun
Sun Nov 17th"Fun Day" at Sea Q&A/Autograph Session with GrooveLily
Mon Nov 18thMiami Florida8:00am

Wow, according to the above itinerary (from the Belair Travel Website) there is a 24 hour long GrooveLily concert beginning Saturday at 8 AM! That alone is probably worth the cost of the cruise. :)

Barry & Judy Newton have just signed up for the cruise. Really hope this comes off. I think the band should be pushing it hot & heavy now that the sailing date is in the current calendar year. Also think that the travel agency link thoughtfully provided in Rob's December post above should be added to the cruise page on the Groovelily website, which currently is just taking names.

Gene, you might want to consider making the front page reference to the cruise steadily more prominent as the date draws near.

Excellent Barry! Psyched to cruise with you guys.

Thanks for the reminder to update the cruise page ... just did it. Also a good idea to feature it more on the home page as we get closer; will do.

See you soon,
-Gene

Hey, All! My sister-in-law, Sandy (come out and play, Sam!!!!), asked me to let people know that she and her husband (the hearty, good sailors of the family LOL) are signed up for the cruise. They have tried their best to get me and Jack to join in, but haven't succeeded...yet. So, those of you going, be on the lookout for Sandy and Mark!!! (She's probably gonna kill me for this!!)

By the time she told me about the Titusville gig, I had completely forgotten how she had raved about this band at the folk festival. A girl had a violin strapped on so she could sing and play at the same time.
They were great.
Really.
Yeah, right.
So I took a chance and went to the show. I had nothing else to do anyway. What was there to lose?

Well, GrooveLily, the joke is on me. I left the show singing….and haven't stopped since (much to my coworkers' dismay.) Now with 3 shows under my belt, 3 new CDs in my rack and a nice little vacation planned in November, I still can't get enough. (I should add that I do bore quite easily and would have grown tired of listening to a lesser talent by now.)

There's not much point in telling you how good you are. Surely everyone reading this already knows.
Suffice to say that I'm doing the best I can to convince others to give a listen. A drummer friend met us at the Maplewood show. He was genuinely impressed. One down, a few million to go!

Thanks GrooveLily and thanks Ellie. (No, I won't kill you, but I'll tell you jokes until you're in stitches. Oh, never mind.)

PS Sandy's brother (my hubby) says you two are just a couple of cut-ups! We may have to re-think this cruise thing!!!! LOL

Cruise postponed!

For those of you who haven't seen the note on the Petal Pushers list, Rick just posted this:

Just got off the phone (8/22)with the travel agency and cruise has been postponed...band may reschedule at a later date...choices for anyone already booked will be full refund *or* go ahead and take the cruse sans band at a to-be-determined reduced rate...details are forthcoming at the beginning of next week. yuk!

I agree with Rick: YUK! Maybe we should plan another Lilyfest that weekend to take the place of the cruise!

David,
You beat me to it: it makes me even more frustrated at not being able to adjust work. "The Lily in Winter" would be an excellent idea, perhaps worth more thought after people get resigned to no cruise, and maybe bring in more of the out-of-town Pushers.

Apparently there's no rest for the Revolution,

Hey Flo...maybe you'd like to host a November Lilyfest! I think your neck of the woods would be more comfortable in November than ours!

If Flo can't do it, I can.

I'll have plenty of time; I just quit my job! :-)

Lori,
Does that mean I should tell the band to ignore the brochure?

...you should have told them that anyway. Nope, that's my volunteer work (one of them anyway!). By day, I'm an ecologist pushing pixels around on computer screen pretending that I know how to pick the best sites for conservation. I'm a contractor for a government agency, and that place is just not good for the soul. I'm moving into full time Yoga instruction.

GL is definitely good for my soul..I'll have more time to listen to tunes & get away to play with y'all ('course, now I won't have any money to do it!) ;>

lori, feelin' free!
