I am stumped. I thought this would be a fairly straight forward project in the beginning, but I was unpleasantly surprised. I have located two small music series that operate in my area. Neither of which seem remotely interested in trying find new acts, and who said flat out, "we cannot draw enough people to bring a show like that here". (Pessimists) One of them said, I lose money every month bringing acts here and I can only draw 30 people on average. Of course, he also said he uses no radio stations, no promotional materials and he hold shows in a local church, way off the highway in Margate NJ. Do any of you have any advice on how I would go about putting something together? I found a place that would be a great place to have a show, complete with state of the art sound system. It would have to be a turn-key rental and would cost about $500. I hear that this is too expensive to produce a show like this and not lose money doing it. Seating capacity is 200 easily with a dinner style seating arrangement(Building is used as a dinner theatre). I just don't know why the local organizations are not more interested in doing things like this. Is this a bad idea? I would like to hear from some of you that have produced shows, both successfully and otherwise, so that I can see what is involved. Dennis | ||

Dennis, what is your general area? (I'll have to look up Margate) We live in the western part of central NJ and would definitely truck on down to SJ to groove!! Anything I can do to help, give a yell!! I'm on summer vacation and on the verge of boredom! *grin* | ||
