Today it was another warm one
Gentle breeze and summer stormin’
It’s lucky for the farmers there was rain
The dollar’s tight, the market’s down
The circus tent is back in town
They’re putting in a store at 5th and Main

Reading you the papers
Telling you the news
Telling you what’s going on and on and on
each day, every day

It says a doctor overseas
Has found a cure for some disease
A breakthrough of the very rarest kind

We’ve seen the praying and the leeches
and the herbs
All the science in the world can’t wake you up
